Barcode Registration
Registering your barcode ensures your product and company information appears here on Verified by IBN and is easily accessible through Google searches, increasing visibility and offering protection for your business.
Registration Process
To ensure your product or company information appears when searched on Verified by IBN, you must register your barcode in the International Barcodes Database.
Free Service: If you purchased your barcodes from a member of the International Barcodes Network, you can register them for free. You should have received instructions via email after your barcode order.
Paid Service: If your barcodes were obtained from another provider such as GS1, you can purchase barcode registration here. After the purchase, we will request proof of ownership (e.g., an invoice from your barcode provider). Once verified, instructions for registration will be provided. After registration, your barcodes will appear in Google searches, some barcode scanner apps, and on Verified by IBN.
Benefits of Registration
While registration is optional, there are several key advantages:
- Visible in barcode scanner apps – Registration ensures that your product details show up when scanned using certain apps, such as the Zebra Barcode Scanner. For more information on available barcode scanner apps, click here.
- Increase your product's online visibility – Registered barcodes improve the product’s online presence, making it easier for retailers and customers to find your company and product information via search engines like Google. Your product details will be registered in the International Barcodes Database and visible here on Verified by IBN.
- Prevent barcode misuse or theft – Registration helps protect your barcodes from accidental or intentional misuse. If a barcode is registered in online databases, it discourages illegal use, particularly on platforms like Amazon.
- Proof of legitimacy – For retailers hesitant about non-GS1 barcodes, registration offers an additional layer of legitimacy. You can direct them to the International Barcodes Database to confirm that your barcodes are valid, saving time and reducing frustration.
